Smartworks for Artists was founded by Brenda and Zac York in 2021 with a mission to help artists with the business and marketing aspects of their studios. Their vision and dedication have opened doors for artists since.
As Smartworks for Artists enters its next phase, Lucas Smith and Joe Gass are taking the mission forward. Lucas will serve as Managing Director, Artist Development, alongside Joe as Managing Director, Strategy & Growth.
Building on the foundation already in place, our focus will be on maintaining premier service, expanding offerings, and broadening support for artists developing sustainable, professional practices.
Meet Lucas & Joe
We’re on a mission to help artists with the stuff they don’t want to do. You know, everything on the business side of your studio, under the piles and permanently on your to-do list: building a website, writing your artist statement, a bio, organizing your CV, putting images of your art in room settings, branding, and on and on…Ugh!
We’ve been there and we feel your pain. Lucas is an artist and has been selling his art online and in galleries since 2022. He also teaches classes on everything related to marketing and selling your art.
Joe is a strategic management consultant with a love for art. He has experience in supporting artists on everything from websites and marketing to directing solo and group exhibitions.
Together, we get you. Hand it over to us. We’ll whip your creative business into shape and set you on a renewed art career track.
